Its not the first time that the West Japan Railyway Company (JR West) runs service with a special theme train. The previous anime series Evangelion themed train was running for a long period. Since last autumn the Hello Kitty train has replaced that popular service. Read more about our experience on that pink train and learn where it runs.
The services operates on a regular Kodama service between Hakata and Osaka and vv. It leaves Hakata 6:42 and gets to Shin-Osaka at 11:13. The return service leaves Shin-Osaka 11:29 and it is back in Hakata at 15:38. (Update: This train is actually not running anymore)
We stayed in Fukuoka and took a daytrip on a local train to Kokura for some sightseeing. On the way back we decided to hop on this very special pink Shinkansen back to Hakata (Fukuoka).
Several of the cars feature a cute interior. Just perfect to shoot a few selfies.
In the Hakata station there is also a Hello Kitty cafe if you have time to kill before or after the ride on the train. Of if you are in need of some more selfies of course.
Don’t forget to bring a cute souvenier along for a photo prop.
